About KidCreations

KidCreations is the start of new journey to help give back to the community. Let’s get  started with how we got here. For the last several years our family – Johnathon, Allison, Collin (11), Carrington (8), and Caydence (2) – participated in a tradition of service to others during the Christmas holidays. We called this the ‘Sprouse House 30 days of Giving’ tradition. Each day for 30 days before Christmas, we asked the kids to complete an act of kindness. Sometimes this meant volunteering at the local food pantry, passing out Christmas cards at the nursing home, donating books to the local library, putting quarters in a vending machine, or donating toys to a charity drive.

Over the course of the 2018-2019 school year, our son, Collin, was selected to participate in the Louisiana Student of the Year program.  He was fortunate to become a state finalist (a honor only given to 7 elementary children in the State of Louisiana).  During the process, he met many wonderful, talented, and gifted young boys and girls.  He learned a lot about himself and his inspirations grew tremendously.  He knew at this moment, he wanted to take our family tradition and make it into something bigger and better than ever.  After only a few brainstorming conversations, KidCreations was born.

Now that we had a name, we needed a purpose.  We knew from the start we wanted to involve our friends and family so we could spread more kindness than we could do alone.  We brainstormed idea after idea with the hope of finding one we were all passionate about and one that would produce lots of smiles.  One night while watching TV, a commercial came on for the new Our Lady of the take Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge and we knew without a doubt this was it, as kids have the best smiles.  For children who spend an extended time at the hospital, it can be a stressful and isolating time. We decided that we would put together activity boxes filled with a variety of arts and crafts, homemade cards, toys, and treats. These activity boxes will help us put smiles on the faces of children staying in the hospital by encouraging them to focus on activities to boost their self-confidence and self-worth. This year our goal is to be able to put together 25 activity boxes. See how you can help here.
